"I built it. It won't POST."

This is the most common reason gamers walk into our shop. Free diagnostic. Here is what we check.

Motherboard standoffs in the wrong spots

Easy to miss and easy to short the board on the case. We pull the motherboard, verify standoff positions, and reseat.

RAM not fully seated

DDR4 and DDR5 modules need a real push. Common failure on first-time builds. Sometimes you have to listen for the snap.

EPS CPU power cable not plugged in

The 8-pin (or 4+4-pin) connector near the CPU socket gets forgotten by half of all first-time builders. No CPU power = no POST.

CPU cooler holding the lid open

Over-tight or unevenly mounted CPU coolers can prevent the CPU from making full contact. We reseat and use the right paste.

BIOS needs an update for your CPU

AMD AM5 and the newest Intel sockets often ship with a BIOS that does not recognize newer-gen CPUs. We flash and rebuild.

Dead or faulty PSU

Less common but real. We bench-test the PSU with a known-good system. RMA assistance if needed.

Most "dead" builds come back alive

Bring it in. Free diagnostic, written quote, no surprise bills. Most build rescues are $129 to $349 depending on what we find. If it turns out to be a dead component, we help with the RMA.

What we do for gamers and PC builders

Build, fix, tune, upgrade, advise. Real prices, no hidden anything.

Build rescue

It won't POST, won't boot, BSODs out of the box. We diagnose for free and fix the underlying issue. $129 to $349 typical.

How a build works here

Whether we are starting from a part list or starting from your budget.

1

Consult

Tell us budget, target resolution, games, streaming or not, any preferences (color, AIO vs air, case size). 1 hour, $99, credited to the build if you proceed.

2

Part list

You either bring a list (we review and adjust) or we put one together for you. We tell you honestly if there is a cheaper part that performs the same.

3

Build day

Clean assembly, careful cable management, BIOS configured for memory and CPU, Windows installed and updated, drivers in.

4

Stress test

We run 8 to 24 hours of CPU and GPU stress testing, monitor thermals, and verify stability before handoff. No new build leaves cold.

5

Handoff with docs

You get a written summary: every part, serial numbers, BIOS settings, RGB software setup, warranty contacts. We help with RMAs if any part fails later.

What we don't do

Honest about scope. There is good gaming-PC work we are not the right shop for.

Custom open water cooling loops. Hard tubing, GPU blocks, distribution plates, reservoirs. Gorgeous projects, but they need ongoing maintenance that does not fit our service model. AIO liquid coolers are no problem.

Extreme overclocking with LN2 or dry ice. Fun but not a service we offer. Standard overclocking and undervolting on air or AIO, yes.

Crypto mining rigs. Standard gaming PCs and content creation rigs, yes. Multi-GPU mining-focused builds are not what we do.

Used parts we cannot test. If you bring a used GPU we will test it. Used PSUs we usually push back on, because they are the one component that can take everything else with them when they fail.

For anything we will not take, we tell you up front so you can find the right shop. No wasted time.

Custom PC questions

My PC won't POST after I built it. What do I do?+

First step: power it off and stop trying to boot. Most failed-build issues come down to a few culprits we check in order: motherboard standoffs in the wrong spots, RAM not seated all the way (you usually hear a snap), the EPS CPU power cable not plugged in, the CPU cooler holding the lid open, BIOS needing an update for your CPU, or a dead PSU. Free diagnostic at our shop. Most builds we see come back alive.

What does a custom build cost?+

Two paths. If you bring the parts: labor starts at $149 for a straightforward build, more for complex builds (full custom loop, multiple GPUs, etc.). If we source the parts: labor starts at $249, plus parts at retail with no markup games. Pre-build consultation is $99, credited toward the build if you proceed. Free quote before any work.

Do you only do gaming PCs, or workstations and streaming rigs too?+

Gaming is the most common request but we build whatever you need. Streaming rigs (often two-PC setups), content creation workstations (high core count for video editing or rendering), VR-ready systems, and emulation boxes are all regular work. We talk through your specific use case during consultation.

Can you tune my system for better performance?+

Yes. Overclocking, undervolting (often a bigger win on modern CPUs), memory XMP/EXPO, fan curves, GPU power and fan tuning. Performance tuning service starts at $149. This is also where we fix thermal throttling problems and rebuild fan/airflow layouts that aren't working.

Do you do custom water cooling loops?+

Standard AIO (all-in-one) liquid coolers, yes, all day. Custom open water loops with hard tubing, GPU blocks, distribution plates, and reservoirs are something we don't take on at the shop. They are great projects but require ongoing maintenance that does not fit our service model. For a clean AIO or air-cooled high-end build, we are the right shop.

Can I bring you a Steam Deck or ROG Ally for repair?+

Yes. Handheld gaming devices are a regular part of our work. Steam Deck (OLED + LCD), ROG Ally and Ally X, Lenovo Legion Go, Nintendo Switch (Lite + OLED). Liquid damage, no-power, screen, joystick drift, board-level work. See our case study on a board-level ROG Ally X liquid damage repair for the kind of work we do on these.

What if I want to upgrade my existing gaming PC?+

We do GPU swaps, CPU upgrades (including new motherboard/CPU/RAM combo when the platform is changing), storage upgrades, AIO installs, and cooling improvements. Upgrade labor starts at $89 for a single component and goes up from there. We are honest about whether an upgrade gets you the performance you want or whether a fresh build makes more sense.

How long does a custom build take?+

A clean build with parts on hand is usually 1 to 3 days from start to handoff, including 24 hours of stability and thermal testing. Builds where we are sourcing parts can take longer depending on availability (current GPU and CPU supply varies). We give a realistic timeline at the consult.

Do you offer any warranty on builds?+

Yes. 90 days on the build labor itself (cable management redoes, RMA assistance, BIOS reflashes, anything we did). Individual component warranties come from the manufacturer (1-3 years for most parts, longer for some PSUs and SSDs). We help you file RMAs if a part fails inside the manufacturer window.

Can I bring used or open-box parts?+

Yes, but we are honest at the consult about whether the part is worth using. Used GPUs from reputable sources are common. Used motherboards have a higher failure rate. Used PSUs we usually push back on (they are the part most likely to take everything else with them when they fail). We test used parts during the build.
