The repair shop OC students recommend
When your laptop dies the night before a paper is due, you do not have time to ship it to Apple, sit in a Genius Bar appointment two weeks out, or pay $800 for a board replacement. You need it working today, and you need it affordable.
Computer Clinic sits in the middle of Orange County's campuses: about 10 minutes from UCI, 12 from Irvine Valley College, 15 from Concordia and Orange Coast College, and 20 from Chapman and Saddleback. We do free walk-in diagnostics, repair most laptops and phones the same day, and apply a student discount for any valid college ID. Our technician has been doing this work for over 12 years, and a large share of our customers are students, grad students, and faculty.
We're not affiliated with any school. We're just the closest independent shop that actually knows what it's doing on Apple silicon, board-level work, and the weirder repairs (liquid damage, ports, hinges, swollen batteries) that Apple Store often refuses.
What we fix most for students
The same four problems come through our door every week.
MacBook repair
Screen replacement, battery swap, keyboard, trackpad, charging port, liquid damage, logic board work. We service MacBook Pro and MacBook Air (Intel and Apple silicon M1/M2/M3).

Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, Microsoft Surface, ROG, Razer, custom builds. Cracked screens, dead batteries, slow boot, broken hinges, won't-turn-on.
See PC services →iPhone screen & battery
Cracked front glass, battery replacement, charging port, water damage. Walk-in friendly. Most iPhone screens done while you wait.

Cracked screens, batteries, charging issues on iPad Pro, Air, mini. We also work on Surface, Galaxy Tab, and other tablets that note-taking apps live on.

The specific things that walk into our shop right before finals week.
Coffee, boba, or water bottle inside the keyboard
Power it off immediately. Don't press any keys, don't try to dry it with rice. Bring it in same day if you can. We do board-level cleaning and corrosion repair that saves a lot of laptops Apple Store writes off.
Cracked screen from a backpack drop
MacBook screen replacements are a same-day fix in most cases. Bring it in for a free quote. We usually beat Apple Store pricing by a wide margin, and the part comes with our warranty on parts and labor.
Won't turn on the morning a paper is due
Could be the battery, charging port, RAM, SSD, or logic board. We do free diagnostics so you know what is wrong before you commit to a fix. Many "dead" MacBooks turn out to need nothing more than a worn battery replaced.
Battery that swells the trackpad
Common on 3-4 year old MacBooks. Stop using it (swollen batteries are a safety risk) and bring it in. Same-day replacement on most MacBook models.
What students usually pay
Real ranges from our published price list, before the student discount. The exact quote comes at the free diagnostic, and the discount is applied when you show your ID.

Old phone in a drawer after an upgrade? We also buy used devices, which has funded more than one repair bill. Full ranges for everything else are on the repair prices page.
Time it right around the semester
The worst week to discover a dying laptop is finals week, and that is exactly when most people discover it. The pattern from our bench: screens, batteries, and SSD upgrades are same-day, so those are safe even mid-crunch. Board-level work runs 2 to 5 days, so if your machine is showing warning signs (random shutdowns, a swelling trackpad, a port that only charges at one angle), bring it in the week before deadlines, not the night before one.
And if the laptop dies at the actual worst moment, tell us about the deadline at drop-off. Same-day repairs get finished same-day, and the free diagnostic will at least tell you within the hour whether your data can be pulled onto a borrowed machine while yours is on the bench.

Frequently asked questions
Which schools qualify for the student discount?+
Any current college student with a valid school ID: UCI, Irvine Valley College, Concordia, Orange Coast College, Chapman, Saddleback, and every other local campus. Bring the ID to drop-off and the discount is applied when we quote the repair.
How far are you from campus?+
About 10 minutes from UCI, 12 from Irvine Valley College, 15 from Concordia and Orange Coast College, and about 20 from Chapman and Saddleback. We are at 18021 Sky Park Cir Suite H2 in Irvine, near John Wayne Airport, with free parking at the door.
How much does student laptop repair cost?+
Published ranges before the discount: iPhone screens $89 to $329 by model, iPhone batteries $69 to $89, MacBook batteries $149 to $209, PC laptop screens $150 to $400, SSD upgrades for a slow laptop $199 to $249, and most other laptop problems $89 to $299. The diagnostic is free, the quote is exact, and the student discount comes off when you show any valid college ID.
Can you fix my MacBook before finals?+
In most cases, yes. Common student MacBook repairs (screen replacement, battery replacement, charging port, keyboard, and many liquid damage cases) are completed the same day or within 24 hours. Logic board work takes longer. Call (657) 321-9934 to confirm turnaround for your specific issue.
What if my laptop spilled coffee or water?+
Power it off immediately, don't turn it on, and bring it in as fast as possible. We do board-level liquid damage recovery in-house. Most other shops just replace the whole board, or refuse the job. The faster you bring it in, the more we can save. Diagnostic is free.
Do I need an appointment?+
No appointment needed. Walk in any time during business hours. Most students drop off, head back to campus, and pick up the same afternoon.
What if you cannot fix it?+
The diagnostic is free and you approve the written quote before any work begins. If we cannot fix it, or you decide not to proceed, the diagnostic costs you nothing.
What brands do you repair?+
All major brands: Apple (MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, iPad, iPhone), Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, Microsoft Surface, and custom-built PCs. If a student brings it in, we have probably worked on it before.
How does pickup work, do I need to come twice?+
Yes, drop-off and pickup are at our Irvine shop. Most repairs are ready the same day, so many students drop off in the morning, attend class, and pick up before heading home. We will text you the moment your device is ready.
Bring your student ID. We will take care of the rest.
Free diagnostics, student discount, same-day service. 10 to 20 minutes from all six campuses above.
